Rochdale was named after and lies in the wide valley of the River Roch – which runs through the Town Centre which is actually under the nations widest bridge of its kind. In its heyday Rochdale was a predominant leader in the production of woollen and cotton cloths with textile mills scattered throughout the area and hence its coat of arms. Rochdale is surrounded by lakes, reservoirs and canals, nature reserves & country parks and attracts associated activities.

Local Motorway links connect Rochdale to the M62 & M60 and Rail links with Manchester & Leeds. A new Tram system is to be installed in the very near future making transport systems even more accessible .
